Elite Pickleball Paddle – Review
August 19, 2011 in Pickleball Paddles
The most notable features of the Elite are its smaller, tapered handle and its slightly elongated shape. The smaller handle on this old 2G design make the Elite paddle popular with women and children while its slightly elongated shape make it easier for tennis, badminton and squash players to make the transition to pickleball.
Men who wish to use this popular paddle should not be put off by the small handle. This is easily adjusted by adding a second layer of cushioned grip over top of the existing grip. The result is a thicker, more rounded handle that closely resembles the shape of a Dunlop tennis racquet.
Elite pickleball paddles are manufactured with two different cores and facings. Paddles with aluminum cores and fiberglass facings can be identified both by the unique sound they make when they strike the ball and by their green or blue graphics on a field of beige. Those with cardboard cores and graphite facings have white graphics on colored backgrounds, usually red, blue, green or purple.
The only know issues with this paddle have to do with workmanship and edge guards. Occasionally, customers will receive paddles with dust, fibers and other materials trapped in the paint on the surface of their paddles. And as with all 2G paddles equipped with silicone edge guards, the glue on the guards will eventually become brittle and break loose. At this point, the paddle should be replaced, not repaired.
All in all, the Elite pickleball paddle is a great starter paddle for new pickleball players. The price point makes it a friendly buy and the small handle makes it a comfortable paddle for players will small hands. It can be purchased in person in our Calgary store or ordered through our online Pro Shop. We ship across Canada and around the world.
